Once you've chosen the tableware collection that best suits your restaurant, you need to start thinking about how to keep it in a perfect condition for as long as possible. That's why we'd like to share some tips with you on the optimal hygiene and care of tableware.
The restaurant industry might well be characterised by a flurry of activity in order to serve diners as efficiently as possible, but if you just set aside a few minutes to take care of your tableware, it'll look great for much longer.
What can you do to care for tableware?
We recommend removing food scraps from dishes right after they've been used, as acidic foods such as vinegar or citrus fruits can speed up wear and tear. If food dries on the plate, it can be much harder to remove, so you can use warm water to get rid of any leftovers.
In the restaurant industry, it's commonplace to wash tableware in a dishwasher. We recommend using quality detergents and products that are not excessively abrasive, following the instructions carefully to guarantee that dishes retain their shine. Make sure you choose a high temperature automatic washing cycle, as this ensures hygiene and disinfection.
If you decide to wash your tableware by hand, soak it first in hot water, then clean in warm water with washing-up liquid and rinse with plenty of water. Avoid using corrosive detergents or combining water with products such as bleach,as leaving dishes to soak for a long time and/or in these conditions will speed up wear and tear. Don't use metallic or synthetic scourers, as these might scratch your dishes, and dry with a cotton tea towel after washing.
As forstoring tableware,it's advisable to stack each item along with others of the same size or format. The storage place should be cool, dry, and protected from moisture and contamination.
What about porcelain? What's the best way to wash it?
Porcelain items are made from ceramic products that remain compact and hard without pores in the material. It's definitely better to wash them by hand, but the situation is different in the restaurant industry because the dishwasher makes it so much faster.
To wash porcelain, we recommend adjusting the temperature and the washing cycle to the requirements of this material,as this will save time and resources. It's It's also important to place the items apart to avoid touching or rubbing, which can make them breakand not to use too much detergent, as this could leave them with a matt finish instead of gloss.
With stubborn stains caused by certain foods, we recommend leaving the dishes to soak in plenty of water with a tablespoon of bleach and then washing and rinsing them. If you want to get rid of scratches or metal stains, you could always use a metal cleaner.
By following these recommendations, you'll keep your dishes clean, shiny and in a good condition for longer. Beautiful and well-kept tableware is the perfect showcase for a mouthwatering dish, making sure that guests are fully satisfied.
